Owner-Operator Truck Insurance

One truck with your name on the door. We price liability, cargo and physical damage for a single unit under your own authority, or non-trucking liability and physical damage when you lease on to a carrier.

Owner-operators get the best rates in trucking when the record is clean — and the worst service, because a one-truck account is small change to most agencies. It is not to us. Someone always answers seven days a week, and the certificate portal means you never wait on anyone for a COI.

Under your own authority we place $1M auto liability with filings, $100K cargo and physical damage. Leased on, you need non-trucking liability (bobtail) and physical damage, and often occupational accident instead of workers' comp. We will tell you which, and what your lease actually requires.

What We Quote for This Operation

Own Authority

$1M liability with BMC-91/MCS-90, cargo and physical damage, GL for the contracts that ask.

Leased On

Non-trucking liability, physical damage at your value, occupational accident if the carrier requires it.

Physical Damage Done Right

Stated value, realistic deductible, rates typically 3% to 8%; gap coverage if the truck is financed.

Cargo Add-Ons

Reefer breakdown, trailer interchange for drop-and-hook and port work.

Discount for Experience

Three clean years and a clean MVR is what unlocks the low end of the market — we shop it every renewal.

Renewals That Don't Creep

We re-market before renewal, not after the increase lands.

Questions Truckers Ask Us

What does a clean owner-operator pay for liability in California?

With three or more years in business and a clean MVR, $1,000,000 auto liability most often runs $7,000 to $14,000 a year depending on radius, commodity and garaging.

Do I need cargo if I'm leased on?

Usually the carrier's policy covers cargo; your lease will say. You will still need physical damage on your truck and non-trucking liability for when you are off dispatch.

Can you insure a truck I'm still paying off?

Yes. Physical damage with the lender as loss payee, and we can add gap coverage so a total loss does not leave you owing the difference.
